About the role
Mater is seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join the Cardiac and Surgical Unit Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Brisbane, in a full-time or part-time, permanent position.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide highly specialised nursing care to critically unwell and vulnerable neonates, while working within a collaborative, values-driven team in one of Australia’s leading maternity and neonatal services.
Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will deliver safe, evidence-based neonatal nursing care while supporting families during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to neonates with complex and critical care needs
- Advocating for infants and families, ensuring care is delivered with sensitivity to physical, emotional and spiritual needs
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to plan, deliver and evaluate patient care
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality,
and infection prevention practices
- Participating in quality improvement activities, research initiatives, and ongoing service development
- Supporting and mentoring students and less experienced staff, contributing to a positive learning workplace
About you
You are a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a critical care environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated experience working within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or comparable neonatal critical care setting (highly regarded)
- Strong clinical judgement, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
