About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and relationship-focused Placement Coordinator (part time 0.8 FTE / 4 days per week) on a 6-month fixed term for parental leave cover to lead the design, coordination, and management of professional practice placements for students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching (GDECT), Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. This is a critical role that connects students with meaningful placement opportunities in early learning settings, ensuring they meet course outcomes, regulatory requirements, and develop into confident, capable educators in Melbourne Location.
Reporting to the Senior Faculty Manager - Education, you’ll coordinate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements, build and nurture industry partnerships, and ensure compliance with professional, legislative and academic standards. You’ll play a key role in shaping confident, capable, and career-ready graduates.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Secure, manage,
and maintain placement partnerships with early learning centers, preschools, and kindergartens
- Prepare students for placements, including professional expectations and child safety obligations
- Supporting students pre-, during, and post-placement
- Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safety and compliance
- Tracking placement data and reporting on student outcomes
- Collaborating with academic staff to monitor learning progress
- Enhancing the placement experience through feedback and continuous improvement
About You
You have a strong background in early childhood education and are passionate about mentoring the next generation of teachers. You bring excellent organisational skills, a strong sense of accountability, and an ability to connect with both industry partners and students to foster enriching placement experiences.
What You’ll Bring
- A Bachelor degree in early childhood education, or a related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the early childhood education sector
- Knowledge of current trends and key players in the field
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework, ACECQA standards, and child safety obligations
- Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating placements or fieldwork
- Confidence in risk and compliance practices
- Excellent communication and digital literacy skills
- Understanding of higher education or student support environments (desirable)
- A collaborative, proactive, and learner-focused mindset
