Berrimba Room Leader (Diploma) - Immediate Start

Echuca, VIC | Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Njernda Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Diploma-qualified Room Leader for the Toddlers Room at Berrimba Childcare Centre. You'll lead the planning and delivery of a culturally safe educational program, supporting children's connection to culture, community and Country, while mentoring a team of educators in line with the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Early Years Manager, you'll lead a team of Diploma and Certificate III educators and student placements, working closely with the Assistant Coordinator and Educational Leader.

- Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of an age-appropriate, culturally safe educational program for your room

- Take primary responsibility for room-based curriculum and programming decisions, ensuring children's individual learning and development needs are observed, documented and catered for

- Guide the team in documenting observations, evaluating children's development and creating inclusive learning environments

- Build and maintain trusting relationships with families and carers through regular communication

- Mentor and support assistant educators, provide performance feedback and assist with onboarding new staff

- Ensure day-to-day operations comply with the Victorian Children's Services Regulations 2020, National Law and National Quality Framework

- Lead health, safety and child safety practices in the room,



including supervision, hygiene, medication procedures and emergency preparedness

SELECTION CRITERIA — YOU MUST ADDRESS THESE

To be considered, your application must include a separate document responding to each of the numbered criteria below.

- A Diploma in Children's Services, Early Childhood Education and Care, or equivalent

- Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certification

- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture,



and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal organisations and communities

- Sound knowledge of early childhood development, the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework

- Demonstrated experience leading or working within a Children's Services/Early Childhood program

- Experience mentoring or supervising Certificate III qualified educators, trainees or students on placement

- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and supervise a team of educators

- Well-developed program planning, implementation and evaluation skills

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with children, families, colleagues and professionals

- Sound understanding of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard and relevant Children's Services Regulations

- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgement and remain impartial

- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work independently and as part of a team

Desirable: Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, and experience with family engagement strategies in a childcare or community services setting.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check

- National Police Check

- Current and valid full Victorian Driver's Licence

- Eligibility to work in Australia

- Vaccination status and pre-employment screening in line with Njernda's policies and procedures
