KIRUSHNA'S TASTY KITCHEN PTY LTD - Wollert VIC

We are seeking an experienced Chef/Cook specialising in Authentic Indian and Sri Lankan Cuisine to join the team at Kirushna's Tasty Kitchen. This is a full-time position based in Wollert, Victoria . As Chef/Cook, you will be at the heart of our culinary operations, creating authentic and delicious dishes that reflect the rich traditions of Indian and Sri Lankan cooking. This role is essential to maintaining the quality and reputation of our restaurant, ensuring every meal we serve exceeds our guests' expectations.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and cooking authentic Indian and Sri Lankan dishes using traditional recipes and cooking techniques

Managing food preparation areas, ensuring all workstations are organised, clean and well-stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment

Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and presentation in accordance with health and safety regulations

Selecting and sourcing quality ingredients, working with suppliers to ensure consistency and freshness

Creating new menu items and specials whilst maintaining the authenticity of Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine

Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, demonstrating proper cooking techniques and food handling practices

Monitoring portion control, food costs and waste management to maintain profitability

Collaborating with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction

Ensuring compliance with all food safety standards and health regulations

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, with substantial experience preparing authentic Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine

Strong knowledge of traditional Indian and Sri Lankan cooking methods, spices, and ingredients

Excellent knife skills and proficiency with a variety of cooking equipment and techniques





Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment whilst maintaining quality standards

Sound understanding of food hygiene, safety protocols and health regulations

Strong organisational and time management skills

Ability to lead and mentor junior kitchen staff

Creativity and passion for developing authentic dishes and new menu items

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food presentation

Reliable, professional attitude with a strong work ethic

Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications (preferred)

Experience managing food costs and inventory (preferred)
