Role Description

The Clinical Director for Community Care is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Australia, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality community mental health services for young people. This position provides clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring evidence-informed, youth-focused, and culturally safe practices across all community settings. The Clinical Director will manage service design and implementation, coordinate clinical pathways, and refine models of care to ensure integrated, person-centred support for young people and their families. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring clinical staff, overseeing clinical governance and risk management, supporting service evaluation and quality improvement,



and collaborating with internal and external partners, including Orygen, community agencies, and government stakeholders. The role also involves contributing to strategic planning, workforce development, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with PYMHWS’s mission and values.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience in youth or community mental health services, including supervision of multidisciplinary teams and oversight of complex casework.
- Strong skills in service design, program development, and implementation of evidence-informed models of care in community-based mental health or related settings.
- Expertise in clinical governance, including risk management, quality assurance, incident review, and continuous service improvement processes.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, research, community, and government sectors.
- Proven ability to work in person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive ways, including experience with diverse communities and priority populations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in medicine, psychology, social work, nursing, or another allied health discipline, with appropriate skilled registration or eligibility.
- Experience in youth-focused services and familiarity with contemporary youth mental health research, policy, and best-practice frameworks.
