The Opportunity

Hunter New England LHD is seeking an experienced GP VMO or CMO IC to provide solo emergency department coverage in a regional hospital.

You’ll manage a range of high-acuity presentations, working independently while supported by skilled nursing, retrieval, anaesthetics, and gynaecology teams. These shifts are ideal for confident, self-directed doctors with a strong emergency background.

Shift Structure

- Day 08:00–20:00 | Night 20:00–08:00
- Onsite presence required for full shift (excluding designated breaks)
- 2 mandatory rest days for locums working 7+ consecutive days on-call

Clinical Environment – What You’ll Gain

Eligibility Criteria

- AHPRA General or Specialist Registration
- Prior emergency medicine experience in a senior or solo capacity
- NSW Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Australian working rights (citizenship, PR, or appropriate visa)
- Willingness to complete onboarding and hospital credentialing
