Our private dental anaesthesia group is expanding and seeking experienced Consultant Anaesthetists (FANZCA) to join our out-of-hospital dental GA program (adult and/or paediatric lists).

Genuine impact: improving access to GA for children, anxious patients, people with disabilities and others who can’t easily access hospital-based care

Multiple locations across Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Werribee and surrounds; we tailor sites and travel to you

The work

You will be the Consultant Anaesthetist leading full-day lists in a day-surgery style environment, providing:

General anaesthesia and peri-operative management

Post-anaesthesia care and discharge decisions

Lists may focus on:

Paediatric dental GA (typically age 4+), working with specialist paediatric dentists, or

Adult dental GA for longer or complex cases (eg All-on-4, full clearances, multi-hour implant or extraction sessions)

Cases are booked to prioritise safety and quality over throughput. You bring hospital-quality anaesthesia to the dental clinic,



supported by trained anaesthetic nurses and recovery staff, with protocols and equipment aligned to hospital standards.

About you

You are a Specialist Anaesthetist who values autonomy, work-life balance and innovation in clinical practice.

Fellowship of ANZCA (or equivalent)

Specialist registration with AHPRA in Anaesthesia and Australian provider number

Substantial post-Fellowship experience (ideally 5-10+ years) and confidence working independently without immediate on-site backup

Robust focus on safety, governance and quality; comfortable applying hospital-level safety checks in a non-hospital environment

Effective communication and teamwork skills; able to provide calm leadership within mixed medical-dental teams

Experience in day surgery or office-based anaesthesia (or willingness to complete orientation)

Interest in innovation, service development or research (eg mobile anaesthesia, advanced sedation protocols, ultrasound-guided dental blocks)

Paediatric anaesthesia experience or an interest in building skills in paediatric dental GA (we can tailor your casemix and provide support)
