About the role

Optiver is on the lookout for an HR Business Partner to join their APAC People Team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is tailored for an individual who can autonomously handle people-related outcomes, optimize HR processes, and align operational goals with the overall business strategy. The primary focus will be on supporting the Sydney Tech portfolio, while also providing assistance to the wider Sydney BP team as necessary.

What you’ll do

- Act as a dependable HR partner for the Sydney Tech portfolio, while also offering support to the Sydney BP team as needed; ensure the accurate execution of HR systems and processes.
- Take the lead on intricate issues, clarify solutions, and implement effective strategies to boost team productivity.
- Align daily operational goals with HRBP and business priorities, staying updated on stakeholder strategies to provide advice that resonates with business outcomes.
- Identify potential people-related risks and opportunities within the stakeholder context and devise responses that align with the people agenda.
- Oversee comprehensive people processes for the stakeholder group, ensuring consistency and adherence to Optiver's standards.
- Work autonomously when required, balancing commercial, compliance, and people considerations; esc... complex issues with clear implications.
- Engage in meaningful discussions, present clear perspectives, and translate changes into actionable steps for leadership.




- Cultivate genuine relationships across the organization; adapt communication styles to suit various audiences and seek broader buy-in.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and People Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in areas such as Recruitment, Learning & Development, Reward, Diversity & Inclusion, and People Operations; coordinate lifecycle activities and address stakeholder needs.
- Streamline and enhance domain processes; advocate for people initiatives in business terms; embody Optiver's values and pursue continuous development through feedback and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience as an HR Business Partner or in a comparable HR generalist role, showcasing the ability to independently manage complex people-related challenges.
- Strong grasp of key employee lifecycle processes, including performance management, talent development, employee relations, and change management, with the capability to quickly master relevant tools and processes.
- Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with experience in influencing beyond immediate teams and customizing approaches for different audiences.




- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of articulating the implications of decisions, identifying people risks and opportunities, and seeking guidance on complex matters.
- Comfortable engaging in discussions, presenting viewpoints, and guiding stakeholders through change with clear next steps.
- Familiarity with Australian employment laws and practices; able to advise managers on complex cases with support from senior colleagues.
- A growth mindset, focus on delivery, and a commitment to embodying company values.
- Valid Australian working rights.
- Familiarity with AI tools or practical experience in using AI to enhance HR functions is a plus but not mandatory.
