Approach Consulting is seeking a Senior Citrix Infrastructure Engineer to join a major Federal Government department responsible for delivering and maintaining secure, highly available virtual desktop and application environments. This role will provide technical leadership across Citrix infrastructure, virtualisation technologies, cloud platforms and enterprise IT services while contributing to strategic technology initiatives.

The Opportunity

Join a high-performing infrastructure and end-user computing team within a large Federal Government department. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimising enterprise Citrix environments that support thousands of users across Australia. This role will provide technical leadership across Citrix infrastructure, virtualisation technologies, cloud platforms and enterprise IT services while contributing to strategic technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Citrix solutions, including; Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Netscaler / ADC, Citrix Cloud technologies, Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS), Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS).
- Manage and optimise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.
- Monitor platform performance and capacity, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Support upgrades, patching,



and lifecycle management activities across Citrix platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents and performance issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and architecture artefacts.
- Work collaboratively with security, networking, cloud, and infrastructure teams.
- Ensure solutions align with government security standards, policies, and compliance requirements.

About You

You are an experienced Citrix Engineer with a strong background supporting enterprise environments. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, delivering reliable services, and working collaboratively to improve the end-user experience. You'll bring experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) and Citrix ADC (NetScaler), along with strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualisation technologies

Highly regarded:

- Citrix certifications (CCA, CCP or CCE).
- Experience working in Federal Government or other highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and hybrid cloud technologies.
- Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
