Your role at St John of God Health Care St John of God Health Care is seeking an experienced Media Coordinator to join our Communications, External Affairs and Marketing team.

In this dynamic role, you will play a key role in strengthening and protecting the organisation's reputation through proactive media engagement, compelling storytelling and responsive media relations. Working closely with stakeholders across our hospitals and services in Victoria and Recent South Wales, you will identify and promote positive stories that showcase our Mission, values and impact within the communities we serve.

About the role

Reporting to the Media Manager, you will support the delivery of St John of God Health Care's media strategy by identifying, developing and pitching media opportunities, that align with organisational priorities generating positive earned media coverage and fostering strong relationships with journalists and media outlets. You will work collaboratively with hospital and service leaders to uncover newsworthy stories, develop engaging media content and provide media support for key initiatives and projects. You will also assist with media enquiries, issues management and crisis communications, ensuring timely, accurate and consistent messaging that protects and enhances the organisation's reputation. The Position

- Proactively identify, develop and pitch compelling media stories that showcase St John of God Health Care's Mission, services, achievements and community impact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets and key stakeholders, including responding to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare high-quality media materials, including press releases, statements, briefing notes and spokesperson talking points.
- Support issues and crisis communications,



helping to protect and enhance the organisation's reputation through accurate and consistent messaging.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on media coverage, industry trends and campaign outcomes, using insights to drive continuous improvement and engagement opportunities.
- Participate in the national after-hours and weekend media on-call roster.

Ideally, candidates will be based in the Melbourne office located on Collins Street. Travel to our Victoria-based hospital and service locations may be required.

To thrive in this role, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline, supported by at least 2–3 years' experience in communications. You will be an exceptional communicator with solid writing skills and a demonstrated ability to develop compelling content, pitch stories effectively and generate positive media coverage. You will thrive in a fast-paced setting where priorities can shift quickly, bringing strong organisational skills and sound judgement to your work. Your excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities will enable you to establish credibility with both media representatives and internal stakeholders, while collaborating effectively to achieve communication and reputation objectives.

Full-time permanent position.

Salary and Perks

- Salary: $107,200 per annum plus on-call allowance and 12% superannuation

Regular travel to various hospital sites is required.

A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are necessary (travel time and standard mileage between sites are fully compensated).
