Full Stack Developer, Contract to Permanent

Forex Sport is an ASIC-regulated foreign exchange payments platform. We help athletes, sports organisations, agribusinesses, students and individuals move money internationally at better-than-bank rates. Small team, live platform, real transactions.

We’re hiring a full stack developer to work alongside our lead developer, get across our codebase quickly, and be ready to manage the day-to-day independently from late August when our lead is away for three months.

The role is contract to start, with a transparent path to permanent for the right person.

Timeline: our lead developer is away from late August. You’ll need to be confident across the stack before then. We’re moving quickly on this hire.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

- CurrencyCloud API integration — multi-currency wallets across 32 currencies (in progress, you’ll learn it as it completes)
- Node.js / React codebase — understand the structure, contribute cleanly, identify improvements
- Five niche websites migrating from Wix to React — you’ll be part of that build
- CI/CD, staging environments, branch protection — development workflow hygiene
- Day-to-day bug fixes, support, and feature work

From late August you’ll be the primary developer on deck. Our lead will be reachable but you’ll be managing the day-to-day independently.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- 2–4 years of commercial full stack development experience
- Solid React and Node.js — comfortable across front and back end
- Can read and contribute to an existing codebase you didn’t write
- Good instincts around security and handling financial or personal data
- Clear communicator — flags blockers early, explains technical decisions plainly
- Self-directed once you have context — doesn’t need to be micromanaged

Nice to have (not essential):

- Experience with payments or financial services APIs
- AWS or cloud infrastructure experience
- Previous work in a regulated environment

We’ve been operating since 2010. Profitable, ASIC-regulated, small team. No corporate politics, no layers of approvals. You’ll work directly with the business owner and lead developer, and see the results of your work immediately.

CONTRACT TO PERMANENT

Starts as a day-rate contract. Both sides get a chance to work together properly before committing. For the right person, the path to permanent is clear and expected — not a maybe.

Permanent salary: $70,000 – $85,000 + super, commensurate with experience.
