Position Description

- Based in the Future Industries Institute at Mawson Lakes Campus
- Full-time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2028
- Salary Range: HEO5 $84,498 - $93,955 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

Work that matters

Join a highly specialised technical team delivering advanced microfabrication solutions that support leading research and industry collaboration. In this role, you'll design and manufacture high‑precision components, support world‑class infrastructure, and contribute to nationally significant research capabilities that are driving academic and industry innovation across Australia.

The team

Reporting to the Senior Microfabrication Technologist, you'll join the Australian National Fabrication Facility – South Australia (ANFF-SA) node within the Future Industries Institute. The team partners with researchers, students and industry to deliver advanced fabrication capabilities that support innovative research, consultancy and national collaboration.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands‑on technical work with collaboration and problem solving. You'll work alongside researchers, students and industry partners in a dynamic environment where every project presents recent opportunities to innovate and make a meaningful impact.

Qualifications

- A post‑secondary qualification in a related discipline with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Experience

- Demonstrated capability in machining, engineering or technical maintenance environments
- Proficiency in manual machining, CAD/CAM and CNC programming techniques
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and design 2D and 3D components using industry‑standard software
- Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety principles, including risk assessments and safe work practices
- Strong project coordination, problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills gained in a research, engineering or technical environment
