Countermeasures Engineer / Systems Engineer – Land Electronic Warfare

Important: Candidates must have been separated from Defence for at least 12 months.

Pinaka Technology Solutions brings this opportunity through a Defence Prime and is seeking an experienced Countermeasures Engineer to join the Land Countermeasures Reprogramming Cell within Army Headquarters.

The position will support the Land Countermeasures Development and Verification capability, including Force Protection Electronic Countermeasures mission-fill development, systems engineering, technical assurance, testing and verification.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with ADF, APS and contracted personnel under the general guidance of the LCRC Chief Engineer. Responsibilities include:

- Operating and maintaining the LCRC Engineering Management System.
- Conducting engineering design reviews of FPECM mission fills.
- Supporting laboratory and over-the-air testing and reviewing test documentation.
- Obtaining delegated Technical Authority and maintaining technical proficiency on relevant FPECM systems.
- Applying Countermeasures Development and Verification principles and land-domain testing processes.
- Working with mission-fill developers to ensure design and verification activities comply with approved processes.




- Performing technical data assessments on FPECM system data.
- Supporting domestic and international field trials.
- Conducting document audits and updating internal engineering processes and procedures.
- Reviewing technical packages, reports, products and equipment performance.
- Supporting technical certification, regulatory compliance and capability assurance.
- Mentoring technical personnel and contributing to workforce planning.
- Managing workflows, resources, milestones and expected outcomes.
- Ensuring safety considerations are incorporated into technical activities.

Essential requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

- A minimum active NV1 Australian Government security clearance, with the ability to obtain NV2.
- Ability to work onsite at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
- At least 12 months' separation from Defence.
- Current Technical Proficiency Level 4 or the ability to obtain it immediately.
- An Engineers Australia-accredited bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Technical qualifications and experience in electrical, electronic, communications, radio frequency or systems engineering.
- Recent Defence systems engineering experience within the One Defence Capability System.
- Relevant experience in the Defence Joint or Land Domain within the past five years.




- Experience designing and integrating RF or communications systems with platforms such as land vehicles or portable systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Applicants with relevant transferable skills from other industries may also be considered where they satisfy the qualification and security-clearance requirements.

Desirable experience

The following will be highly regarded:

- Chartered Skilled Engineer recognition through Engineers Australia, or the ability to obtain it.
- Experience planning, scoping, budgeting and forecasting engineering tasks and deliverables.
- Experience working in distributed and multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Defence acquisition and introduction into service of RF or communications systems.
- Experience conducting Developmental Test and Evaluation and Acceptance Test and Evaluation activities.Electronic warfare, counter-IED, mission-fill or force-protection countermeasures experience.

Travel requirements

The position may involve:

- Week-long domestic field-testing activities, primarily at the Woomera Defence Area or Nurrungar in South Australia.
- International testing at overseas facilities, potentially including the China Lake Test Facility in the United States.

ITAR and export-control requirements

This position may require access to United States export-controlled material.

Applicants will be required to disclose their:

- Country of birth.
- Current or previous dual citizenship.

Dual citizens may require further assessment. Appointment will be conditional on approval to access US-controlled export material in accordance with applicable US export-control requirements.
