About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Communications and Community Engagement Officer to lead the College's marketing, communications, events and community engagement initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Principal, this role is responsible for promoting the College, strengthening relationships with families, supporting the Parents Association, overseeing major College events, and leading all internal and external communications.

Working closely with the Leadership Team, you will play an important role in enhancing the profile, reputation and culture of Melbourne Montessori College.

Key Responsibilities

College Marketing and Promotion

Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote the College to prospective families and the wider community.

Lead the College's brand and marketing activities, including the prospectus, brochures, digital content, website, social media and advertising campaigns.

Coordinate Open Days, school tours and enrolment information sessions to attract and engage prospective families.

Monitor marketing performance, including enrolment enquiry data and campaign outcomes, and collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure all messaging reflects the College's Montessori philosophy and strategic direction.

Serve as the primary point of contact between the College and the Parents Association, fostering a positive and productive partnership.





Attend Parents Association meetings and facilitate clear communication between the Association and College leadership.

Support the planning of fundraising initiatives, community events and volunteer activities, and assist in resolving matters raised by the Parents Association where appropriate.

Events Management

Plan and oversee the delivery of College events, including orientation programs, Open Days, graduation ceremonies, athletics carnivals, performing arts events and community celebrations.

Manage event budgets, logistics and timelines, liaising with staff, families and external providers to ensure events are delivered to a high standard.

Maintain the College events calendar and evaluate events to support continuous improvement.

Communications Oversight

Lead the development and implementation of the College's communications strategy across internal and external audiences.

Oversee all official College communications, including newsletters, annual reports, website content, social media and media relations, ensuring consistency and alignment with College values.

Develop communication protocols, support staff with communications to families, and monitor community feedback to advise the Principal on matters of reputational significance.

Pastoral Care

Contribute to a positive school culture that reflects the College's Montessori philosophy and values.

Build respectful relationships with families, responding to concerns in a timely and constructive manner and supporting families through transitions and significant milestones.

Contribute to a staff culture of interdependence, collegiality and shared purpose, and uphold the College's Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting obligations.

Professional Development

Maintain current knowledge of best practice in school marketing, communications and community engagement through ongoing professional learning.





Contribute to the professional learning of colleagues and engage in reflective practice to continually improve in the role.

General, Administrative and Other Activities

Maintain accurate records relating to marketing, communications, events and community engagement.

Prepare reports for school leadership on marketing performance, community engagement and event outcomes.

Undertake other duties as directed by the Principal, consistent with the scope of the role.

About You

You are an experienced communications or community engagement professional who enjoys building relationships and creating meaningful experiences for families.

You will bring:

Experience in marketing, communications, events or community engagement (education experience highly regarded)

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional organisational and project management skills

Experience managing digital communications, websites and social media

The ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders

Strong leadership and collaboration skills

A proactive, creative and solutions-focused approach

High levels of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail

An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Montessori education will be highly regarded.
