Australian Textile Mills (ATM) is a premier Australian woven textile manufacturing company based in Wangaratta Victoria, leading the way in the manufacture and supply of innovative and decorative textiles,committed to providing premium fabrics for the military, emergency services and safety sector. Also providing quality blinds and moleskin fabrics.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Finance team. This role will play a key role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll across the organisation with both weekly and monthly payroll processing for multiple companies.
About the Role
Payroll Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll and monthly payroll
- Maintain employee payroll and leave records
- Support payroll reconciliations and reporting activities
- Respond to employee payroll enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Manage leave, overtime, allowances, deductions and payroll adjustments
- Assist with processing payroll changes, including new starters, terminations, and employee updates
- Ensure compliance with Superannuation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll (STP) and Payroll Tax obligations
- Ensure payroll data is entered accurately and maintained confidentially
- Support month-end payroll activities and related administration
- Contribute to payroll process improvements and team initiatives
- Work closely with HR and Finance stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy
- Interpret Awards,
Enterprise Agreements and employment conditions
- Respond to payroll enquiries professionally and confidentially
About you
You’ll be someone who enjoys taking ownership of your work, thrives on accuracy and is passionate about delivering exceptional internal customer service.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 3 years' payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll compliance
- Experience processing payroll for a high-volume workforce
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with payroll systems
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Outstanding organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
- Employment Hero experience preferable but not essential
- Greentree knowledge (for monthly journal processing) also preferable but not essential
