Casual Female Support Worker – Dandenong VIC

Aged Care and Dementia Support | Regular Ongoing Shifts

Allegiance Heart & Home Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Casual Support Worker to provide in-home aged care support to clients in Dandenong and surrounding areas.

This role is suitable for someone who is patient, respectful and confident supporting older people with personal care, daily living activities, meal support, mobility, companionship and general household tasks.

Key responsibilities

Duties will vary according to each client’s individual care plan and may include:

- Providing welfare and safety checks

- Supporting clients with personal care and grooming

- Assisting with showering, dressing and continence care

- Preparing, heating and serving meals

- Encouraging adequate food and fluid intake

- Providing medication prompting in accordance with the care plan

- Supporting secure mobility within the home

- Providing companionship and social support

- Using reassurance and gentle redirection where required

- Supporting clients to maintain their independence and daily routines

- Completing electronic progress notes after every shift

- Reporting changes in a client’s health, behaviour, mobility or general wellbeing

- Following care plans, risk assessments and service instructions

Domestic assistance

Some shifts may also include light domestic assistance, such as:

- Laundry

- Washing dishes

- Vacuuming and mopping

- General household tidying

- Taking bins out

- Changing bed linen

- Reporting low household or food supplies

The client’s immediate personal care,



safety and wellbeing must always remain the priority.

About you

The ideal applicant will:

- Have experience supporting older people, including people living with dementia

- Be calm, patient and emotionally reassuring

- Communicate clearly and respectfully

- Be comfortable providing personal and continence care

- Support clients without rushing or forcing participation

- Understand the importance of dignity, choice, privacy and independence

- Be observant and able to report concerns promptly

- Be reliable, punctual and available for regular shifts

- Be comfortable working in homes where pets may be present

- Be able to complete detailed electronic progress notes

Essential requirements

Applicants must have:

- Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or a related qualification

- Current First Aid and CPR certificates

- Current National Police Check

- NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one

- Valid Australian working rights

- Previous aged care, dementia support or community care experience

- A reliable mobile phone for communication and electronic documentation

- Availability for regular casual shifts in Dandenong and surrounding areas

A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are highly desirable.
