Your role

As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway, you will be responsible for providing person-centred care and support for people with disabilities in the home and community.

You will also work with other health professionals to maximise the individual's physical and mental well-being. We are looking for experienced and dedicated Support Workers to provide assistance and support to individuals with complex needs. This role focuses on providing high-intensity support to participants with complex and multiple support requirements, encouraging their independence and self-determination.

How will you make an impact

Support participants to meet their goals, particularly in alignment with their NDIS plan, with a focus on safety, dignity, and client goals. Provide in-home support with health requirements, personal care, and daily living tasks in alignment with the participant's needs and the Care Team support requirements

Assist with the delivery of activities to enhance the development of capacity and skills across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains

Work with a team of health professionals, family, friends, and carers to implement a program of support,



including the implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and other Allied Health Plans

Respond to crisis situations, including behaviours of concern as listed in the Behaviour Support Plan

Prepare meals and ensure dietary needs are met. Promoting independent living

Optionally and, where required, provide:

- Assistance with medication administration, as per policy, procedures and health professional directions
- Manual handling assistance - training will be provided when required
- Behavioural and Mental Health Support

Provide 1:1 support to a client with complex needs, including seizure management (e.g., oral suction, medication administration) and personal care (e.g., hygiene, mobility). Ensure all documentation required by One Doorway when supporting a participant is completed promptly and to a high standard

Advocate for participants and empower participants with choice and control

Comply with One Doorway Policies and Procedures as applicable to your role

Attend and participate in team meetings and other meetings as requested. Actively engage in creating a safe work workplace through identifying, reporting and when appropriate, mitigating risk and hazards. Other duties as required by the business

- Great Pay: $76,515 - $79,499 per annum plus super if you hold a relevant Certificate III or higher qualification in Disability, Individual Support, or Community Services.

What we are looking for

We are looking for compassionate and empathetic support workers looking to make a difference in people’s lives. You must have experience with participants who have high needs and complex behaviour, and must have good communication skills.

Commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives

You’ll need to be a detail-oriented individual who possesses strong listening and communication skills to be successful. Able to accept responsibility and work as part of a team

Patient, flexible, understanding, supportive and caring nature

Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

Experience working within the disability or health care sectors. Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support or Mental Health or equivalent. At least 1 year of relevant work experience.

Valid driver's licence

Access to a comprehensively insured vehicle

NDIS Worker Screening Clearance issued in the State of Victoria

Employee Working with Children Check card issued in the State of Victoria
