ARV Chassis and Trailers Pty Ltd ARV Chassis and Trailers is seeking a motivated and qualified Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Somerton, VIC 3062. This role offers the opportunity to work on the design, development and continuous improvement of trailer and chassis systems while supporting manufacturing and production operations. The successful applicant will play a key role in developing practical engineering solutions, improving product performance and ensuring compliance with Australian engineering and safety standards.

Task & responsibilities

Design, develop and improve mechanical systems, trailer components, chassis assemblies and engineering solutions to meet operational and customer requirements. Prepare engineering designs, technical drawings, specifications and documentation for manufacturing, fabrication and installation processes. Plan and optimise production layouts, manufacturing workflows and mechanical processes to improve efficiency, quality and productivity.

Oversee the assembly, installation, commissioning and testing of mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications. Conduct engineering analysis and performance evaluations of mechanical systems, components and equipment to identify opportunities for improvement. Inspect,



test and monitor mechanical equipment and manufactured products to ensure reliability, durability and compliance with relevant Australian standards.

Investigate mechanical failures, identify root causes and develop practical corrective and preventative solutions. Collaborate with production teams, fabricators and management to deliver projects within required quality, budget and timeframes. Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation and maintenance recommendations for internal and client requirements.

Ensure all engineering activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements, quality management systems and applicable engineering regulations. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, product innovation and the development of more efficient manufacturing processes.

Qualification & experience

1–3 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience is essential.

A completed relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree is required. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes and engineering analysis. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.

Knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication processes and production methods. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Registration or licensing may be required where applicable.
