The PeopleSoft System Administrator is
responsible for the planning, execution, and support of the PeopleSoft upgrade
from version 8.59 to 8.62. This role ensures system availability, performance,
security, and compliance throughout the upgrade lifecycle, from assessment to
post–go-live stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Assessment

Participate in upgrade planning, scope
definition, and impact assessment for the PeopleSoft 8.59 to 8.62 upgrade.

Review existing PeopleSoft architecture,
integrations, customizations, and infrastructure readiness.

Identify risks, dependencies, and
mitigation strategies related to system, database, and infrastructure
components.

System Environment Setup and Validation

Build, configure, and validate PeopleSoft
environments (Development, Test, QA, UAT, Production).

Install and configure PeopleSoft tools,
middleware, web servers, and application servers required for 8.62.

Ensure setting consistency and
adherence to vendor and organizational standards.

Database Backup and Recovery Planning

Define and implement database backup,
restore, and recovery strategies prior to and during upgrade activities.

Coordinate and execute full and incremental
backups for upgrade rehearsal and cutover.

Support recovery testing and rollback
planning to ensure business continuity.

User Access and Security Configuration

Configure and manage PeopleSoft security,
roles, permissions, and user profiles.

Ensure audit and compliance requirements
are followed during the upgrade.

Validate access controls post-upgrade to
confirm no security regressions.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

Monitor system performance during upgrade
runs,



testing cycles, and production cutover.

Analyze logs and system metrics to identify
and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Tune application servers, web servers, and
batch processes for optimal performance.

Infrastructure and Cross-Team
Coordination

Coordinate closely with infrastructure,
database, network, and cloud teams.

Manage server infrastructure, operating
systems, storage, and network configuration related to PeopleSoft.

Ensure all infrastructure changes are
aligned with the upgrade timeline and change management processes.

Testing Support

Support technical testing activities,
including system, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Resolve system-related issues identified
during testing cycles.

Assist functional teams with
environment-related troubleshooting and configuration.

Go-Live Preparation and Support

Prepare production environment for go-live,
including final configurations, backups, and validation checks.

Execute cutover activities and support the
production upgrade.

Provide post–go-live monitoring and
stabilization support.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong experience as a PeopleSoft System Administrator.

Hands-on experience with PeopleSoft
upgrades, preferably 8.5x to 8.6x.

Knowledge of PeopleSoft tools, web/app
servers, and middleware (e.g., WebLogic).

Experience with database platforms commonly
used with PeopleSoft (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

Solid understanding of Linux/Unix or
Windows server administration.

Familiarity with backup, recovery, and
disaster recovery practices.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and
communication skills.
