Degani Coffee is looking for an experienced Senior Coffee Roaster to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in our roasting operations, product development, and quality assurance while helping support a growing wholesale coffee business.

You’ll work closely with the General Manager and our Head Roaster and be entrusted with maintaining the highest standards across every roast, while also mentoring the team and contributing to the ongoing growth of the business.

Your Primary Focus

As our Senior Coffee Roaster, you’ll be responsible for ensuring every batch leaving the roastery reflects the quality and consistency our café partners expect.

Your responsibilities will include:

Operating and managing the weekly roasting schedule

Maintaining exceptional roast consistency across all blends and single origins

Continually optimising roast profiles to improve flavour, consistency and efficiency

Blend development, seasonal coffees and new product innovation

Green bean evaluation and inventory planning

Leading quality assurance through cupping, sensory evaluation and brewing analysis

Monitoring extraction performance and supporting cafés with coffee quality where required

Maintaining roasting equipment and coordinating servicing and preventative maintenance

Recording production data and continually improving roasting systems and processes

Working closely with management on product development and strategic growth initiatives

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the science and craft of coffee roasting just as much as they enjoy continually improving systems, flavour profiles and customer outcomes.

Supporting Roastery Operations

As part of a small and passionate team, everyone pitches in. Alongside roasting, you’ll also assist with:





Picking and packing coffee orders accurately

Building and maintaining solid relationships with our wholesale customers

Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient roastery

Warehouse organisation and stock control

Assisting with green bean handling and production scheduling

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone who genuinely loves coffee and wants to help grow one of Australia’s iconic café brands.

Demonstrated experience as a commercial coffee roaster

Strong understanding of roast profiling and coffee development

Experience with quality assurance, cupping and sensory evaluation

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and manage production schedules

Manual driver's licence

Highly Regarded:

Experience developing espresso blends and seasonal offerings

Knowledge of coffee brewing, extraction and café operations

Experience training baristas or coffee professionals

Wholesale coffee or account management experience

Mechanical aptitude for basic roaster maintenance

An interest in business development and identifying new wholesale opportunities
