About the role:
This is a rare chance for a commercially sophisticated General Manager to step into a pivotal leadership role within a highly regarded law firm.

Working closely with the firm’s Managing Principal and senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the operational performance of the business, creating the structure, discipline and
capability required to support continued growth.

This is not a maintenance role.

You will be empowered to challenge existing ways of working, strengthen commercial performance and build a modern, scalable operating platform. By taking ownership of the day-to-day business, you will enable the firm’s senior professionals to remain focused on clients, market growth and the delivery of exceptional work.

Sitting at the centre of the firm’s leadership structure, you will oversee its core business functions and translate strategic priorities into measurable results.





Your remit will include:

- Driving firm-wide commercial performance, profitability and financial discipline.
- Leading business planning, budgeting, forecasting and executive reporting.
- Improving revenue performance, utilisation, realisation, WIP and cash collection.
- Leading and developing managers across finance, people, technology, marketing and business operations.
- Building a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration and strong leadership.
- Strengthening workforce planning, performance management, succession and employee engagement.
- Identifying operational bottlenecks and delivering practical, sustainable solutions.
- Modernising systems, workflows and practice management processes.
- Championing the intelligent adoption of technology, automation and AI.
- Strengthening governance, risk management, compliance and business continuity.
- Establishing clear KPIs and ensuring leaders remain accountable for delivery.
- Building the infrastructure required to support the firm’s continued growth.

The ideal candidate:
You will be an experienced business leader who combines strategic vision with the ability to execute.

You will bring:

- At least 10 years’ experience in senior leadership or general management.
- Proven experience overseeing multiple business functions.
- Strong financial capability and exceptional commercial judgement.




- A track record of improving profitability and organisational performance.
- Experience leading operational transformation and business improvement.
- The ability to introduce new systems, technology and more efficient ways of working.
- Strong people leadership skills and experience developing senior managers.
- Sophisticated stakeholder management and influencing capability.
- The confidence to make decisions, challenge constructively and hold others accountable.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
