Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for a dedicated Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Nurse to deliver family-centred care that makes a lasting impact on the lives of children aged 0–6 years.

Maternal Child Health Nurse

As a Maternal Child Health Nurse, you'll be responsible for providing a family focused, primary health care service to maximise the health and wellbeing of children aged 0-6 years living in the Northern Grampians Shire in line with Council’s Municipal Early Years Plan.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

- Registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse suitable for practice in Victoria.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Maternal & Child Health and Midwifery.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- An understanding of the legislation, standards and best practice principles that guide Maternal and Child Health nursing.
- Experience delivering family-centred care and working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of specialist referral pathways and community support services to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,



with the ability to build positive relationships with families, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed assessment, clinical decision-making and advocacy skills, with a commitment to early intervention and child safety.
- Experience using Maternal and Child Health clinical information systems is desirable.
- Works collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrates initiative, and is committed to continuous improvement in the delivery of immunisation services.

Qualifications and experience

- Qualification as Division One Registered Nurse suitable for employment in Victoria
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Maternal and Child Health and Midwifery
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Experience in the maternal and child health computer databases desirable

Selection criteria

1. Relevant qualifications, registrations, and accreditations to perform the role.
2. Knowledge of relevant issues and legislation pertinent to Maternal and Child Health clinical practice.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of specialist referral and support services for families and children and experience with family centered practice.
4. Experienced communicator with ability to positively engage with a diverse range of clients and successfully provide information and services.
