About the role

Westridge Medical is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This is a full-time position based in Toowoomba, QLD. We would entertain Part time or Casual candidates as well.

As Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice. This position is essential to delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining the efficiency of our clinic operations. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment whilst managing administrative tasks that are fundamental to the success of our practice.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting patients in a warm and professional manner and providing them with a positive first impression of the practice

- Managing patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling and confirming bookings using practice management software

- Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate, up-to-date patient records and documentation

- Handling patient enquiries and directing them to the appropriate medical staff or departments

- Processing payments and managing invoicing, including handling cash, card and other payment methods

- Answering phones, managing incoming calls and taking messages for clinical staff

- Preparing treatment rooms and ensuring the reception area is clean, organised and stocked with necessary materials

- Liaising with other healthcare providers and medical organisations as required

- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy legislation and practice protocols





- Supporting the medical team with general administrative tasks to ensure productive practice operations

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role

- Strong proficiency with practice management software and computer systems

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, doctors and staff

- Outstanding organisational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and understanding of privacy legislation, including the Privacy Act

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy

- Keen attention to detail and accuracy when processing patient information and financial transactions

- A friendly, patient-focused approach with genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service

- Reliable and punctual with strong attendance record

- Preferred: Knowledge of Australian healthcare systems and medical terminology
