Bluefin Resources has been exclusively engaged by WorkCover Queensland to appoint 2 x Actuarial Specialists to join their internal actuarial team.
WorkCover Queensland is a government-owned, self-funded statutory authority responsible for providing workers’ compensation insurance and supporting safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes for Queensland workers and employers.
The Chance
This is a great opportunity for an experienced actuarial professional to join WorkCover Queensland’s actuarial team, supporting valuation, modelling, reporting and analytics activities.
Reporting to the Actuarial Manager, you will contribute to outstanding claims provisioning, actuarial insights and broader improvements across systems, data processes and analytics as part of WorkCover Queensland’s transformation program.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of WorkCover Queensland’s biannual outstanding claims liability valuations.
- Maintain and enhance actuarial models, data processes and reporting solutions.
- Prepare actuarial analysis, insights and commentary for executive leadership, board and risk reporting.
- Develop claims trend reporting, visualisations and actuarial risk insights.
- Support the development of Power BI dashboards and analytical tools.
- Improve data extraction processes that support actuarial modelling and reporting.
- Contribute to the governance, documentation and continuous improvement of actuarial models and processes.
About You
- 5+ years’ actuarial experience within general insurance, workers’ compensation or a similar financial services environment.
- Experience across actuarial valuation, modelling and reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using SQL for data manipulation.
- Experience with Power BI, with exposure to R or Python highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Progress towards FIAA (or equivalent) qualification.
- Candidates with long-tail general insurance experience will be highly regarded. However, candidates from other actuarial backgrounds with relevant valuation experience will also be considered
