About the role

John Morrow Refrigeration is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Technician to join our team on a full time basis in Shepparton, VIC. This is a pivotal position within our air conditioning and refrigeration services, where you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for both commercial and residential clients. As an HVAC Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers receive high-quality service and reliable climate control solutions, whilst upholding our reputation for excellence in the trades and services industry.

Key responsibilities

1. Install, inspect, maintain and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and residential properties

2. Diagnose electrical and mechanical problems using testing equipment and hand tools

3. Perform routine maintenance tasks including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels and testing system functionality

4. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate installation and repairs

5. Respond to emergency service calls in a timely and professional manner

6. Complete job documentation, service reports and maintain accurate records of work performed

7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies on all job sites

8. Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, provide recommendations and discuss service options

9. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and to schedule

10. Keep tools,



equipment and vehicles in good working condition and report any maintenance issues

What we're looking for

1. Valid trade qualifications or apprenticeship completion in air conditioning, refrigeration or HVAC systems

2. Current ARC Tick certification or equivalent refrigerant handling certification

3. Proven experience of at least 3 years working as an HVAC technician in a commercial or residential setting

4. Type A Gas servicing or equivalent certification is preferred and not essential

5. Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including electrical and mechanical components

6. Proficiency in using diagnostic testing equipment and hand tools relevant to the trade

7. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and system documentation

8. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

9. Strong communication and customer service skills

10. Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

11. Valid driver's licence and reliable transport for travel between job sites

12. Commitment to health and safety compliance and best practice standards

13. Willingness to undertake continuing professional development and further training
