Assistant Asset Manager | Retail Property | Hybrid working
An exciting opportunity has become available to join a leading Australian retail property owner with a diverse national portfolio of shopping centres and retail assets. This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded property professional looking to transition into client-side asset management, working within a collaborative team focused on driving asset performance, long-term value and strategic portfolio outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the execution of strategic asset plans to maximise long-term asset value.
- Managing external property managers, facilities managers and leasing agents to ensure robust operational performance and KPI delivery.
- Preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, financial reporting and performance analysis.
- Monitoring lease expiries, tenancy performance and opportunities to optimise rental income.
- Coordinating capital works, compliance initiatives and preparing assets for sale where required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, including leveraging technology and AI to streamline processes.
About You:
This role will suit someone who enjoys balancing the operational and commercial aspects of retail property while developing broader asset management expertise.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of three years' experience within retail property, shopping centres or commercial property.
- Direct shopping centre experience, with exposure to property management and asset performance.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Property, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a polished and professional presentation style.
- Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and the ability to influence outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
- Confidence using technology, with an interest in leveraging AI and digital tools to improve reporting and workflow efficiencies.
