For over 50 years, this respected community mental health and wellbeing organisation has worked alongside individuals, families and communities to provide recovery-oriented person-centred support for people facing mental health challenges. As part of the organisation’s strategic direction, the Board is, also investing in research, innovation and wellbeing science to shape a better future for thousands of Australians each year.

With an established purpose led by clear values that are genuinely lived throughout the business, the Board is entering a significant renewal program. This aims to strengthen its governance capability and broaden its reputation as a leader in recovery-oriented mental health, wellbeing and community-based support.

The plans are in place: what’s needed now is an experienced Director who can contribute through a well-honed practical knowledge of community, for purpose mental health and recovery-oriented service delivery.

Clinical qualifications are welcome, if you bring a solid understanding of the for-purpose mental health and community services sector and have gained your deep insights through practical involvement.

Your experience may be in mental health, homelessness, healthcare, disability, addictions, research, technology, education or similar for purpose,



community or health services environment. The Board is interested in complementary expertise that will strengthen oversight across practice, quality and research. The options are wide open providing you can also offer strong strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, sound judgement, leadership and a clear grasp of governance.

You will need a robust record as a Non-Executive Board Director, as you will chair the newly established Practice, Quality and Research Committee, supporting Board oversight of practice governance, service quality, continuous improvement, research impact and associated risk. A mature attitude and approach, sound judgement, the ability to listen actively and a determination to always find the best way forward, will enhance your application.

It is very important that you have a deep (perhaps personal) understanding of lived experience, recovery-oriented practice and the value of for-purpose, community-based mental health and wellbeing support.
