The Opportunity
At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia's energy future. We're not doing it alone. We're doing it with our customers and communities as Australia's energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.
We have an exciting chance for a Project Enablement Coach to join our Energy Solutions team on a 2-year maximum term contract, supporting a significant pipeline of growth projects. Based in Brisbane, the role offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement and Performance, you will play a key role in helping our project teams deliver better outcomes by strengthening the way we work, collaborate and make decisions.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives on influencing without authority, coaching leaders through complex challenges and helping teams unlock their full potential. You'll have the opportunity to shape how our growth projects are delivered, leaving a lasting impact on both project outcomes and team capability across Energy Solutions.
This isn't a traditional project governance or process role. It's a highly influential coaching opportunity where you'll work alongside project leaders and cross functional teams, observing how projects operate in real time and identifying opportunities to improve performance, decision making and delivery effectiveness.
You'll help teams navigate complexity, challenge unproductive ways of working, and build the behaviours that enable high performing, customer focused and commercially disciplined project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with cross functional project teams, embedding within delivery environments to observe team dynamics, decision making and ways of working in real time.
- Identify and address behaviours, practices and systemic barriers that impact delivery performance, fostering greater alignment, accountability and collaboration across teams.
- Provide independent, evidence based insights and constructive challenge, helping leaders and teams recognise opportunities to enhance effectiveness and achieve better outcomes.
- Coach and influence leaders and project teams to build high performing behaviours, strengthen collaboration and drive a more integrated, outcome focused approach to delivery.
- Champion practical improvements to ways of working, establishing feedback loops and reinforcing frameworks that enhance execution,
predictability and continuous improvement across projects.
Your background
- You will bring relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience, with expertise in coaching, leadership, project delivery, organisational effectiveness or continuous improvement highly regarded.
- You will have substantial experience working within complex project, operational or transformation environments, coupled with a strong understanding of delivery lifecycles and the factors that influence successful outcomes.
- You will bring a proven track record of coaching leaders and teams to strengthen performance, improve behaviours and embed more effective, outcome focused ways of working.
- You will have demonstrated success influencing and constructively challenging stakeholders at all levels, building trust and driving positive change in complex matrix environments without relying on formal authority.
- You will bring strong commercial acumen, customer focus and emotional intelligence, with the ability to objectively diagnose issues, improve execution discipline, decision making and alignment, and translate observations into practical actions that deliver results.
About the Team
The Improvement & Performance team operates at the intersection of strategy, execution and performance, partnering across APA's major development, commercial and customer facing functions for improved business delivery outcomes.
The team plays a critical role in shaping and informing strategy through data-driven insights, while also working hands-on with teams to ensure that strategy translates into practical, consistent and high-quality execution.
With a strong focus on real-world outcomes, the team identifies performance drivers, removes friction, and embeds ways of working that enable better decision-making, stronger alignment and improved customer and commercial results across the organisation's growth agenda.
