The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an experienced and collaborativecommunications leader to join our Advocacy, Communications and Engagement teamas the Coordinator Corporate Communications.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving Council's corporatecommunications function and ensuring the successful delivery of internal andexternal communications that inform, engage and connect our community andemployees.
Leading a talented communications team, you'll work closely withsenior leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to deliver communicationinitiatives that support Council priorities, strengthen community trust andbuild meaningful connections with diverse audiences.
With responsibility for communication planning, content development,publications, stakeholder engagement and corporate messaging, you'll help ensureCouncil's communications are clear, accessible and impactful.
You'll also playan important role in supporting business areas across Council to communicateeffectively with staff, the community and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the delivery and evaluation of internal and external communicationsinitiatives across the organisation.
Providing expert communications advice and support to senior leaders andstakeholders.
Managing Council's annual communications calendar to support coordinatedplanning and delivery.
Overseeing the production of Council publications, promotional materials andcorporate communications.
Supporting communication responses to media issues and enquiries whenrequired.
Developing communication plans that increase awareness, understanding andengagement with Council services and initiatives.
Coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
Managing budgets and ensuring sound governance and financial accountability.
Building strong partnerships across the organisation to support effectivecommunication outcomes.
Skills & Experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, publicrelations or a related discipline, and/or equivalent industry experience.
Significant experience developing and implementing complex communicationsplans and initiatives within a large or multifaceted organisation.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through theimplementation of systems, processes, policies and communication bestpractices.
Strong understanding of strategic communications, stakeholder engagement,media relations and content development.
Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability tobuild effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
Proven experience leading,
developing and supporting high-performing teams ina collaborative setting.
Experience managing budgets and resources, with a strong understanding ofgovernance, accountability and organisational requirements.
Strong planning, project management and problem-solving capabilities, withthe ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
