This is a hands-on leadership position where you will own the performance of a large, modern fleet and the team that keeps it running.About the RoleYou will oversee the full maintenance, servicing, and repair program for a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles including water carts, sweeper trucks, and vacuum excavation units.
You will lead a team of skilled mechanics, set the standard for quality and safety, and ensure the fleet stays productive and on the road.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a workshop team, driving performance, accountability, and a strong safety cultureDevelop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend fleet lifeDiagnose and resolve complex mechanical and hydraulic faults across a range of heavy vehiclesOversee parts procurement, inventory management, and workshop budgetsMentor and develop workshop staff,



building long-term team capabilityEnsure all work meets industry safety and compliance standardsWhat You Will Bring10+ years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience, ideally including workshop managementA minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar heavy-duty diesel mechanic or workshop management role with flexible distribution between mechanic and management experienceStrong hands-on background with heavy vehicles, hydraulics, and diagnosticsProven ability to lead a team and drive resultsSharp organisational skills and a methodical approach to problem-solvingA genuine commitment to safety and doing things rightTrade certificate qualification is required for this positionAustralian citizenship or permanent residency is requiredHeavy vehicle licence is requiredWhat's on Offer$150,000 to $160,000 per year, commensurate with experienceA up-to-date, well-maintained fleet and a well-resourced workshopReal leadership autonomy in a growing, established businessSupportive team culture with genuine career development pathways
