Country Universities Centre Far West – Broken Hill NSWCUC Far West is seeking a motivated and organised Student & Centre Support Officer to provide high‐quality student services, learning support and operational assistance at our Broken Hill Centre.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a busy environment and is passionate about supporting regional students in their education journey.Working closely with the Centre Manager and wider team, you will deliver front‐line student support, assist with onboarding and academic skills guidance, maintain Centre presentation and equipment, and help coordinate events and daily operations.

Our Centre is known for its welcoming workplace, strong community partnerships and commitment to improving educational outcomes in Broken Hill and surrounding communities.Excellence in Social Enterprise / Outstanding Community Enterprise *****)Excellence in Innovation *****)Excellence in Customer Service *****)We are proud to be a trusted, award‐winning organisation delivering meaningful impact for students, families and the broader Far West community.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide front‐of‐house support including student enquiries, registrations and general assistanceSupport daily Centre operations including room setup, equipment checks and presentationAssist with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling and record keepingProvide academic and learning skills support (study skills, referencing, organisation)Assist with onboarding, orientation and technology setup for new studentsConduct workshops, group sessions and learning support activitiesSupport community engagement and outreach eventsAssist with student data processes, reporting and evaluation activitiesConduct regular safety checks and support safe event deliveryAbout YouYou will bring a warm, professional approach and a genuine interest in supporting students.
You enjoy working in a small team, can manage competing priorities, and feel confident engaging with diverse people.Essential CriteriaA minimum of a Bachelor‐level qualification in any discipline and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in a student‐support contextExperience in student support, education or community services, with examples of delivering high‐quality assistance to diverse individualsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with students, staff and community stakeholdersAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a small team, demonstrating initiative and sound judgementStrong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy Centre environmentConfidence supporting students with academic skills, including study strategies, referencing guidance and organisationProficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems, with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow administrative processesAbility to travel for occasional outreach, engagement or operational requirementsCurrent NSW Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)DesirableExperience in higher education or student servicesExperience coordinating events or activitiesFirst Aid / Mental Health First AidCurrent Driver's LicenceRole DetailsPart‐time, 30 hours per weekOne late‐night shift per week/fortnightClassified under HEW Level 5–6, depending on experienceSalary and conditions in accordance with the Higher Education Industry – General Staff Award ****
