It is provided on site and via outreach.yourtown is a trusted provider of services for young people, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing, long-term unemployment, prevention of youth suicide,child protection, as well as support for those experiencing domestic and family violence.
Realiseyourpotential at yourtownyour opportunityyourtown's Mind 4 Kids Program provides psychosocial support and psychological therapies for children aged to 0-11 years with mild to moderate mental health issues, to improve their health, resilience and wellbeing.We are seeking an Allied Health Professional - Counsellor to support children, and their families by providing a single-entry point into mentalhealth care, wraparound supports and psychological therapies.
You will work closely with the psychosocial support team to enhance positive child and family outcomes.This is an exciting opportunity to work within a reputable service that has a range of programs in the child and family space and is well connected with thecommunity.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate and attend cross-service training with other co-located services including Glugor Young ParentsProgram, Starfish Family Mental Health Support Service, Communities for Children and Expressive Therapies.Your role will include:undertake needs assessment,



case planning and referralsengage parents/carers and children in a range of evidence-based screening questionnaires and outcome measuresdeliver evidence-based counselling and psychotherapeutic interventionssupport children to improve their mental health, and emotional and social wellbeingwork with families to improve parental understanding of child's needs and how to support their childwhat we are looking forYou will be comfortable and skilled in working with a wide age range of children and young people and will have demonstrated experience and commitment toevidence-based therapies in line with the person's needs.You will bringpassion, commitment and belief in young peoplerelevant university level qualifications and eligibility for professional registration with ACA, PACFA, AHPRA or other relevant bodyminimum 3 years' experience providing counselling and psychotherapy for children and their familiesdemonstrated skills in assessment, case formulation and planningability to provide tailored, age and culturally appropriate therapeutic responses to children and young peopleThis position will initially be appointed on a maximum term basis until December ****, with potential for ongoing work subject to funding.
