We are a growing IT business based in Sydney CBD, operating in a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.
Finance plays a central role in supporting operational performance, managing risk, and enabling informed decision-making across the organisation.About the RoleWe are looking for a hands-on Accountant to join our finance team, working closely with the Head of Finance and collaborating with operational stakeholders.
This is a broad, commercially focused role that combines core accounting responsibilities with business partnering, financial analysis, and process improvement.You will gain direct exposure to decision-making across billing, procurement, inventory, and cash flow, making a tangible impact on business performance.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will take ownership of:Transactional finance oversight, including billing cycles, accounts receivable and accounts payable integrity, and general ledger managementFinancial reporting, including month-end close, profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and consolidated reportingCash flow management, including forecasting, monitoring, and working capital improvementMerchant facilities reconciliation, covering credit card, EFTPOS, and online payment gatewaysInventory, cost accounting, and revenue recognition processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment to business operationsYou will also support broader business performance through:Preparation of management reporting packs, including financial commentary and analysisContribution to budgeting and rolling forecastsDelivery of commercial insights, including margin analysis, pricing reviews, and project or product profitabilityContinual development of KPI dashboards, including metrics such as DSO, DPO,
billing accuracy, and cost ratiosPartnering with operations, sales, and procurement teams to support informed decision-makingMaintain and strengthen internal controls across AR, AP, and financial reporting processesIdentify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and data accuracySupport compliance with accounting standards and internal policiesAbout YouDegree in Accounting, Finance, or a related disciplineCA, CPA or equivalent qualification, or near completionApproximately 3 to 5 years' experience in a broad accounting or commercial finance roleStrong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processesPractical experience managing AR, AP, billing, and general ledger activitiesAdvanced Excel capability, with Power BI or similar tools highly regardedExperience working with ERP systems, billing platforms, and financial data environmentsClear communication, a proactive mindset, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a deadline-driven environmentStrong analytical skills and attention to detailA proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholdersA willingness to mentor and support junior team membersWhy Join UsA competitive salary package + superannuation, with annual reviews tied to performanceBroad, hands‐on role with genuine exposure to commercial decision-makingOpportunity to influence processes and improve financial performanceSupportive finance team environment, collaborating closely with the Senior Leadership teamOngoing professional development, including CA or CPA supportAccess to a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family
