Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is hiring Disability Support Workers to join our Residential care team in Supported Independent Living in Wollongong NSW.
We have Casual shifts available as per below in our SIL homes located in various locations in Wollongong.
Successful probation may lead to Part time opportunities.
Physical aggression, Self-injurious Behaviors and multiple restrictive practices:
MALE SUPPORT WORKERS ONLY
Monday 2-10pm
Tuesday 2-10pm
Thursday 5:45am-11am
PEG Feeding, Stoma care and challenging behaviours
Tuesday 7-11pm +11pm to 7am sleepover
Friday 7-11pm + 11pm to 7am sleepover
Saturday 7-11pm + 11pm to 7am sleepover
Sleepovers with insulin trained mandatory
Friday - 10pm to 6am x 2 locations
Saturday - 10pm to 6am
Sunday 6pm to 10pm + 10pm to 6am sleepover
Behaviours of concern you must be confident supporting:
This role may involve supporting participants who can display:
physical aggression(e.g., grabbing, scratching, striking)
property damage(e.g., throwing items, slamming doors)
sensory-seeking and repetitive behaviours
PEG Feeding (must requirement)
Insulin-trained (bonus)
Key responsibilities




Follow BSP strategies consistently (including Green/Yellow/Red response)
Uselow arousal de-escalationand proactive support strategies
Provide personal care, hygiene support, and daily living assistance
Medication administration(Webster packs) and PRN processes as authorised
Maintain participant dignity, privacy, and professional boundaries
Escalate concerns through the chain: Team Leader -> House Coordinator -> ROM (after hours via On-Call)
What we're looking for
SIL experience and confidence with complex behaviours (highly regarded)
Solid documentation skills and ability to follow plans precisely
Medication competency (or willingness to complete competency assessment promptly)
Calm under pressure, consistent, and respectful communication
NDIS Worker Screening Check(or willingness to obtain immediately)
National Police Check
First Aid + CPR(current)
Working with children check
Must have a reliable car that is insured and have NSW Driver's License (Provisional is acceptable)
MinimumCert IV in Disability / Community Services / Mental Health(or equivalent)
