This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with emerging technologies, maintaining specialist equipment, and supporting teachers and students in a hands‐on educational environment.Key Duties & Responsibilities:As the Design Technician, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the Design & Technology workshops, ensuring facilities, equipment, and resources are maintained to the highest standard while supporting innovative teaching and learning.Supporting teachers and students with practical workshop activities and project workDemonstrating and promoting the safe operation of workshop machinery and specialist equipment, including laser cutters, vacuum formers, 3D printers, CAD/CAM machinery, bandsaws, and disc sandersAssisting with the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and workshop processesPurchasing, maintaining, and managing workshop machinery, tools, equipment, and consumable stockConducting routine maintenance of fixed machinery, CAD/CAM equipment, and portable power tools in accordance with maintenance schedulesAssisting the Head of Department with budget planning, purchasing, and expenditure managementMaintaining pricing spreadsheets and supporting project costingEnsuring all workshop activities comply with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements,
risk management practices, and College policiesMaintaining a safe, organised, and well‐presented workshop workplace.Skills and ExperienceYou are a practical and resourceful problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
You have excellent organisational skills, a strong commitment to safety, and enjoy supporting both staff and students to achieve positive learning outcomes.A Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or trade‐related fieldDemonstrated experience working with workshop machinery and technical equipmentThe ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamA willingness to embrace new technologies and continuously improve workshop practicesSound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), compliance, and risk management requirementsStrong computer skills, including experience with Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modelling softwareExcellent organisational, communication, and time management skillsA proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of tasks and manage competing prioritiesCurrent Working With Children clearance (WWCC)A friendly, approachable, and professional manner.Why choose Moriah College?
