Mater Education has an exciting prospect for a Vocational Education Teacher to join us in a casual capacity to deliver high-quality accredited and non-accredited health and clinical programs to diverse community groups.
This position is based at our Townsville campus.As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver our highly regarded Mater Mothers First Aid for Babies program to parents and caregivers.
We are particularly interested in hearing from paediatric nurses, midwives, and child and family health nurses who are passionate about supporting families and are interested in sharing their knowledge through education.We welcome applications from experienced educators as well as experienced clinicians looking to develop a career in education.
Whether you bring extensive teaching experience or are taking your first step into education, you'll be supported through mentoring and professional development to build your confidence and skills as an educator.As our new teacher, you will facilitate engaging learning experiences that enhance health literacy, support positive behaviour change, and improve overall wellbeing.
You'll work collaboratively with internal teams and community partners to ensure training is inclusive, impactful, and aligned with current industry standards.Salary: Commensurate with experienceplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff advantages!
What you'll be doingTypical duties of the Educator include:Deliver effective teaching and learning within classroom, workplace, simulated and online learning environmentsUtilise flexible, blended and inclusive learning techniques, options and products which are responsive to various cohortsContribute to developing, and evaluating teaching and learning resources,
assessment tools and processes that meet industry skills standardsParticipate in continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality of training and assessmentEnsure that students adopt, and practise accepted safety procedures and sustainability in the learning and assessment environmentContribute to the evaluation and review of educational programsParticipate in relevant professional learning activitiesRepresenting Mater Education at expos and events as requiredAbout youTo be successful in this role, you must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM) with a current APHRA registration.
Successful applicants will also have:TAE***** Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE), highly desirableHold aBaby First Aid courseValid Working with Children Card (BlueCard)Current Drivers Licence and a willingness to travel to other locations as requiredVocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed Highly desirable and required for our accredited programsStrong background in health or clinical educationExcellent communication skills and a passion for lifelong learningPreferable - Demonstrated understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and experience working within an RTO environmentDetailed understanding of the relevant profession and accreditation requirementsStrong adherence and acknowledgment of Policies and Procedures and industry requirementsAbility to work well with peer educators and as part of a teamMater is Queensland's largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, delivering exceptional care to nearly 700,000 patients each year across 11 (soon to be 12) hospitals.
