AMA (NSW) is the peak body representing the state's medical profession - advocating for doctors and their patients and supporting our members through some of the most complex moments in their careers.
Our small but high-impact Workplace Relations team is the first port of call when members need practical, reliable advice they can trust.We're looking for a Workplace Relations Advisor to join that team.
This is a genuine advisory role from day one - you'll be giving real advice to real members on real problems, with the backing and mentorship of our Director of Workplace Relations, not sitting on the sidelines.About the roleReporting to the Director of Workplace Relations, you'll provide timely, practical workplace relations and medico-legal advice to AMA (NSW) members, including on:Visiting Medical Officer Determinations and NSW Public Hospital AwardsThe Fair Work Act, relevant Awards, and employer obligationsDispute resolution and grievance proceduresPerformance management, redundancy and termination processes in private practiceContracts, workplace investigations, and policy and procedure adviceYou'll also prepare correspondence and letters of advice, present at webinars and training sessions, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the advice AMA (NSW)
delivers to its members - with support from the team's paralegals and the wider Workplace Relations group around you.About youAdmitted as a legal practitioner in NSWAt least 2 years' post-admission experience as a solicitor, ideally with exposure to employment law or industrial relationsConfident written and verbal communicator, able to translate legal concepts for a non-legal audienceAccurate, organised, and comfortable managing competing prioritiesExperience in a member-based, not-for-profit or health care setting is a bonus, not a requirementWhat's on offerFull-time or part time (4 days, including Fridays) consideredWork from home up to 2 days a week, with flexible start and finish timesReal mentoring and career development from an experienced Director of Workplace RelationsThe chance to work on genuinely varied, meaningful advisory matters - not just processA supportive, values-led team culture at a respected member organisationIf you're a solicitor looking to build real advisory experience in employment law and industrial relations - with the flexibility and support to do it well - we'd love to hear from you.
