The Engagement Specialist – Transport is part of a newly created team that delivers best practice community and stakeholder engagement, supporting the establishment and delivery of Heart of Australia's transport program for rural and remote communities nation-wide.
Reporting to the Transport Project Manager, the role includes initial and ongoing consultation with health service providers to support the co-design of a health transport program at a local level, project analysis and mapping, and planning and delivery of a variety of community and stakeholder activities that will support successful delivery of services.
A significant component of the role will be to build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, Aboriginal Corporations, and other local service providers in select rural and remote locations in all Australian States and the Northern Territory.
You will be required to communicate in an effective and culturally sensitive manner, prepare and implement engagement plans, monitor and respond to project enquiries and manage and contribute to numerous communication channels.
You will implement proactive community engagement activities, and work with our stakeholders and in-house teams to ensure quality projects are successfully delivered.
You are pro-active, articulate, an active listener, and have an eye for detail.
You are adept at interpreting information, and constructive in resolving challenges.
Cultural competency is a key requirement.
You will be required to travel to rural and remote communities across Australia for up to 25% of your working hours.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively across business units to deliver on project targets
Develop relationships with a range of identified stakeholders within the health and transport sectors




Deliver on consultation plans and local‐level co‐design of the project with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, using effective questions to undertake a needs‐based approach
Assist project management: compile and analyse consultation feedback, mapping of service providers nationwide
Support delivery of a calendar of nationwide community engagement events
Assist in writing external communications related to the project
Prepare formal reports and correspondence
Independently prioritise work to support consistent achievement of individual and business targets; appropriately escalating issues impacting either performance and/or the business; and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable mindset.
Experience, skills and knowledge
1. Solid interpersonal and relationship management skills with an ability to:
· Demonstrate a high degree of empathy and listening skills

· Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of business systems and processes including the practical application/use of Microsoft suite of products and customer relationship management tools
4. Excellent problem‐solving skills including the ability to use initiative to manage issues and solve problems
5. Demonstrated understanding of organisational strategy and goals and active participation in organisational culture
6. High degree of organisational skills
7. Knowledge and understanding of health sector is desirable.

Location
Office based role in Toowong, Brisbane unless engaging with external stakeholders in the field.
