Associate –Disciplinary ProceedingsBuilding OperationsBuilding Commission NSWGrade: ClerkGrade5/6Location: Parramatta4PSQ (Hybrid)Duration: Temporaryfull-time opportunity until March ****.This is an opportunity that would suit an experienced paralegal or law graduate with several years' professional experience supporting regulatory or legal disputes.
The role involves assisting Principal Officers and Presiding Officers in the conduct of disciplinary proceedings for Building Commission NSW under statutory licensing and registration schemes.About Building Commission NSWBuilding Commission NSW is committed to innovation, collaboration, professional development, transparency and accountability.
Building Commission NSW purpose is to strengthen confidence in the building sector, protects consumers and is support housing supply.Employees contribute to meaningful regulatory work in an environment that values integrity, sound judgement and continuous improvement.About the roleDelegates who conduct disciplinary proceedings for Building Commission NSW oversee proceedings in relation to a wide range of qualified misconduct allegations involving licensed tradespeople, building companies, engineers and registered certifiers.
Where misconduct is established, delegates may impose penalties including:suspension or cancellation of licences or registrations held by small or large entities.The Associate will assist Principal Officers and Presiding Officers in disciplinary proceedings that are broadly comparable to matters conducted by the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal in its occupational jurisdiction.This role will suit a paralegal or law graduate with several years' experience supporting regulatory or other legal disputes.
The successful candidate should have an interest in criminal, consumer or regulatory law and practice, and the ability to assist with statutory analysis,



factual analysis, evidence review and the consideration of submissions.In this role, you will:Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including investigators, inspectors, mediators and legal officers, and with external stakeholders, including lawyers, tradespeople and consumers.To be successful in this role:You will have highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to express complex issues clearly, concisely and logically.Salary Grade ****, with the base salary for this role startingat $102,936 base plus superannuationA talent pool may be created as part of this recruitment process and will be valid for up to 18 months.
