About the Role
As a
Mentor / Support Worker at HarbourHelp
, you will provide
one-on-one mentoring/support
to participants, helping them develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.
This is a
casual / contract role
, designed to be flexible around university, family commitments, sport, or other work.
You will have the ability to choose hours that suit your schedule, while building strong and meaningful connections with participants.
Mentors and support workers at HarbourHelp often support participants through community-based activities, mentoring sessions, and therapy reinforcement, helping them apply skills learned in therapy to real-life situations.
No two days are the same - activities may include everything from life skills coaching to outdoor adventures or social engagement in the community.
Examples of Activities We Do:
Various activities may include basketball, beach trips, coffee catch-ups, hiking, bowling, cooking, gym sessions, learning about public transport, attending community events, and practising life skills - all while building meaningful connections and supporting participants in reaching their goals.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the tasks and responsibilities of supporting participants include:
One-on-one mentoring and support
Community access and social engagement
Supporting therapy goals set by allied health professionals
Building confidence, independence and life skills
Encouraging healthy routines and positive decision making
Transport to activities, appointments, or community events
Assistance with daily tasks and practical life skills
Emotional support and encouragement

Mentors/support workers studying allied health, psychology, physiotherapy,
occupational therapy,
or related fields

Minimum Requirements
NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
Current Driver's Licence
Access to a reliable vehicle
Vehicle registration and comprehensive car insurance
Right to work in Australia (Passport / Birth Certificate)
Personal mobile phone
Preferred (but not essential)
Provide First Aid certification
Provide CPR certification
National Police Check
Allied health study or experience (nursing, psychology, physiotherapy, OT, social work, etc.)
