Support Trainer - Pathways Boarding College | Casual | Caloundra
STEPS Pathways College is an innovative residential training college that empowers young adults with disability to develop the practical skills, confidence and independence needed to live more independently.
We are currently seeking passionate and reliable Support Trainers to join our team on a casual basis.
This rewarding role provides the opportunity to mentor and support students as they build essential life skills within a unique learning environment.
About the Role
As a Support Trainer, you will provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to students as they participate in learning activities designed to increase their independence and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the delivery of student learning and development activities
Providing mentoring, coaching and support to students in daily living skills
Supporting meal planning, food preparation and cooking activities
Assisting students to participate in community access and social activities
Encouraging student learning, independence and personal growth
Supporting students with complex behaviours in line with behaviour support plans
Applying risk management strategies and reporting incidents as required
Providing one-on-one support to students where required
Supporting student participation in recreational and extracurricular activities
Maintaining accurate documentation, confidentiality and compliance requirements
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and following established training approaches
About You
We are looking for individuals who are patient, positive, adaptable and genuinely passionate about supporting people with disability.
We are particularly seeking candidates who are available to work sleepover shifts as part of our residential training workplace.
Sleepover allowances apply in accordance with the SCHADS Award.
To be successful, you will have:
Experience supporting people with disability, youth or individuals with complex behaviours
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A proactive and supportive approach to helping others achieve their goals
Availability to work across a rotating roster
Mandatory Requirements
Able to provide evidence of work rights in Australia
Current Open Drivers Licence
NDIS Worker Screening Card
Working With Children's Card (Blue Card)
Hold current First Aid and CPR qualifications
Hold Assist Clients with Medication (HLTHPS006) certificate
Willing to obtain certificate of completion of the Epilepsy and Seizure Awareness training including Midazolam Administration - ESAMA
