The Opportunity
Our client, a well-established operator in the resources sector, is looking to add a Principal Project Engineer to their capital projects team on a fixed-term contract.
Based in Perth with travel to site, this role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys building out delivery processes from the ground up and running multiple small-to-medium capital works packages at once.
You'll take ownership of a portfolio of ongoing improvement and replacement projects, working closely with site teams, contractors, and suppliers to keep everything moving safely, on time and on budget.
What the Role Entails
Set up and refine the processes, templates and reporting tools used to plan and track capital works, so projects stay consistent and easy to audit as the portfolio grows.
Put together scopes, cost estimates and schedules for upcoming works, and build the case for each project in terms of the operational value it delivers.
Run contractor sourcing and procurement activity, including tenders and award recommendations, for a range of works packages.
Keep projects on track against safety, quality, time and cost targets, stepping in early where performance starts to slip.
Pull together explicit,



accurate updates for management and other stakeholders on progress, spend and issues.
Spot risks before they become problems, put practical controls in place, and keep everything aligned with relevant regulations and internal standards.
Act as the link between engineering, operations and supply functions so projects land smoothly on site.
What You Will Need
A degree or trade-equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline (mechanical, process, electrical or similar).
A solid track record delivering projects within mining or heavy industry.
Comfort running procurement and contract processes, from scoping through to award.
Experience juggling several small-to-medium projects at the same time without losing sight of the detail.
Good people skills you can hold your own in a negotiation and explain project status clearly to a range of audiences.
A genuine safety-first mindset and interest in doing things better each time.
A current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
