PERSOL is supporting a local council seeking a Senior Governance Officer to join their team on a full time permanent basis.
Permanent full-time opportunity Strategic governance and risk focused position Work closely with Executive Management and Elected Members Support Council, Committee and legislative governance functions
Key Duties
Provide governance support on compliance calendars, audit returns, delegations, policies, and local laws.Provide governance support and advice to Council and Committee meetings.Facilitate and lead reviews of City and Council policies, procedures, frameworks, and local laws.Assist with the administration of local government elections.Prepare high-quality reports, correspondence, and facilitate training and awareness activities.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
About You
Sound knowledge and experience with the interpretation of the Local Government Act ****,



regulations, standards, and best practice governance practices.Demonstrated experience applying governance, probity, or compliance frameworks in a complex organisation, with the ability to identify and manage risk within delegated authority.Experience in developing and reviewing policies and business processes.Time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and competing deadlines.Experience in providing meeting management support including agenda and minutes preparation and meeting attendance and note taking.
