Cairns Northern Beaches (Work close to home!)
About the Role
White Crane Collective operates an holistic, person-centred "service-for-one".
Nursing care, therapies and lifestyle support are delivered in the purpose-built, private home of a gentle man with acquired disabilities.
The person we support, lost his vision, speech, and most voluntary movement as the result of a neurological event.
Sound daily health care is the foundation that allows him to live his best possible life.
We are seeking a positive, energetic, and physically fit Enrolled Nurse who sees the whole person rather than just the condition.
This is not your typical nursing or disability support job.
This holistic role will split your time between
nursing care
and
delivering therapies
(eg. physio, hydrotherapy, communication support) prescribed by allied health professionals.
On-the-job training in our person-centred support program will be provided as part of your orientation for this holistic position.
What We Offer

Work close to home with plenty of time for morning beach walks or gym sessions.
True Continuity of Care:
Experience the satisfaction of 1:1 and 2:1 care in a calm, well-equipped, non-institutional environment.
Professional Growth:
Opportunities to learn specialized skills from allied health clinicians and step into a leadership/training role.
Supportive Environment:

Work with a welcoming team with supervision from a nominated Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality clinical care and precise health documentation (medication charts, obs, fluid balance).
Clinical administration: Liaise with GPs/pharmacists, manage appointments, submit pathology samples, and oversee medications.
Leadership & Training: Write clear, step-by-step care changes for support workers (e.g., how to administer new medications) and train team members in the medical aspects of our man's care.
Deliver personalized daily programs including movement programs (land/pool), communication support, and community outings.
Position Requirements

Minimum 5 years of recent nursing experience.
Clinical Skills:
Proficiency in male urinary catheterization, complex bowel care, pressure injury prevention, and basic wound care.
Characteristics:
A calm, grounded, and highly organized person with robust communication skills.
Availability:
Minimum 3 shifts per week to start.
Must be available for ongoing Friday and Saturday shifts, plus
one sleepover shift per week
(negotiable night).

Experience driving a Long Wheelbase (LWB) wheelchair van and managing electric mobility equipment is a distinct advantage.
Typical Shift Times
Afternoons:
1:00 PM – 7:00 PM (1 worker 1-5 PM, 2 workers 5-7 PM)
Sleepovers:
6:00 PM – 8:00 AM (1 worker, includes active awake time)
Mornings:
7:00 AM – 2:00 PM / 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (2 workers)
If you are a nurse looking to get your teeth into a rewarding, long-term role where you can see the direct, positive outcomes of your care, we want to hear from you.
