Experience working within a collaborative IT environment and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be highly regarded.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain database architecture, data structures, tables, and naming conventions to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all data master filesEstablish, monitor, and maintain backup and recovery procedures, ensuring business continuity and minimal disruption in the event of a system failureImplement and enforce database security protocols, integrity controls, and access management policies to safeguard sensitive organisational dataAdminister and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including guidelines, policies, and operational procedures, ensuring these remain current and fit for purposePlan and perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations, including thorough testing, debugging, and issue resolution in accordance with approved quality assurance processesMonitor database performance on an ongoing basis, identifying bottlenecks and implementing tuning, indexing, and optimisation strategies to maximise efficiencyCollaborate with developers, systems analysts, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into effective and scalable database solutionsAnalyse existing database systems and workflows, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance reliability, performance,



and maintainabilityProvide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database-related incidents, working to resolve issues promptly and minimise operational impactEnsure database environments comply with relevant data governance frameworks, privacy legislation, and organisational standards, including alignment with Australian Privacy Principles where applicableAssist in capacity planning activities by assessing current usage trends and forecasting future storage and performance requirementsSupport the development and maintenance of data integration processes, including ETL pipelines and data warehouse environments, in collaboration with cross-functional teamsRequired Qualifications & SkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experienceDemonstrated experience in a Database Administrator or similar role, with hands‐on responsibility for managing enterprise-level database environmentsProficiency in one or more leading relational database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQLStrong working knowledge of SQL, including query writing, stored procedures, functions, and performance tuningExperience designing and implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies in production environmentsSolid understanding of database security principles, including user access controls, encryption, and audit loggingAbility to diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues through monitoring tools, execution plans,



and indexing strategiesFamiliarity with data modelling techniques and the ability to translate business requirements into well-structured database designsSound understanding of IT service management practices and experience working within structured change management processesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshootingEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with both technical teams and business stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsRelevant vendor certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or equivalentExperience with cloud-based database platforms, including Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQLExposure to NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or RedisExperience in data warehousing environments and familiarity with ETL tools and processesKnowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation of routine database tasksFamiliarity with DevOps practices and experience working within Agile or ITIL-aligned environmentsPrior experience in a regulated industry such as finance, healthcare, or government, with an understanding of associated compliance obligationsWhy Join Us?
