Joinery & Defects Rectification Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Joinery & Defect Rectification Specialist to join our client's post-construction defect team.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, adjusting, and repairing joinery, cabinetry, internal doors, and hardware across newly finished or recently handed-over apartment complexes throughout the Gold Coast.
You will serve as the final touchpoint for quality assurance, ensuring that all timber and cabinetry finishes meet high-quality standards and client expectations during the defect liability period.
Key Responsibilities
Joinery & Cabinetry Repairs: Diagnose and fix variations, misalignments, warping, or defects in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, built-in wardrobes, and custom millwork.
Door Adjustments & Hardware: Re-hang, trim, sand, adjust, and align internal standard and fire-rated doors.
Adjust hinges, latches, handles, drop seals, and soft-close mechanisms.
Defect Rectification (Snagging): Work off detailed snag lists or punch lists provided by site supervisors or property managers to resolve client-reported issues efficiently.
Surface Finishing & Touch-ups: Perform minor cosmetic repairs, including filling pin holes, edge-banding adjustments, colour matching, touching up paint/laminate finishes, and caulking/silicone touch-ups around joinery.
Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to ensure it aligns with architectural specifications, local building codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
Client & Resident Interaction: Liaise professionally with apartment owners, tenants, and building managers while working in occupied or semi-occupied residential environments.
Reporting:
Maintain clear digital records of completed rectifications, including before-and-after photos and signed sign-off sheets.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in carpentry, joinery installation, cabinet making, or post-construction maintenance/defect rectification.
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of cabinetry hardware (e.g., Blum, Hettich, Hafele mechanisms).
High competency with hand and power tools necessary for fine woodwork and adjustments.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for alignments, margins, gaps, flush finishes, and overall aesthetic quality.
Professionalism: Robust communication and customer-service skills, with a tidy, respectful approach to working in private residences.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot tricky installations or non-standard variations independently on-site.
