Diesel Australia is seeking an experienced Service Manager / Parts Controller to join our team on a contract basis.
This is a pivotal role based in Slacks Creek, QLD ****, combining service management expertise with parts inventory control to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer satisfaction.
You will oversee service delivery, manage parts stock, coordinate with suppliers, manage the incoming and outgoing vehicles as well as quoting and invoicing the jobs .
This position is integral to our operational success and directly impacts our reputation in the diesel automotive sector.
Key responsibilities
Manage and supervise the service department, ensuring timely completion of customer vehicles and adherence to quality standards
Oversee parts inventory management, including stock levels, ordering, and organisation of diesel-specific components
Coordinate scheduling of service appointments and allocate work to technicians based on expertise and availability
Maintain accurate records of parts usage, service history, and inventory audits
Liaise with customers regarding service progress, parts availability, and pricing
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate parts procurement to optimise costs
Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and health and safety regulations
Monitor service performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational improvement
Train and mentor service staff on parts systems, customer service, and diesel maintenance procedures
Handle customer enquiries and resolve service-related issues professionally and efficiently
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Service Manager or in a similar management role within the automotive or diesel trade sector
Demonstrated expertise in parts management and inventory control systems
Strong knowledge of diesel engines and automotive maintenance procedures
Excellent organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Proficiency in computer systems and inventory management software
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for customer and staff engagement
Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challengesValid manual driver's licence and willingness to perform test drives when necessary
Physical capability to handle parts and access service areas when required
