We focus on safe and effective program delivery, strong governance and customer-focused services, working across Council to provide sustainable, high-quality outcomes for the city.Our BranchThe Natural Environment, Water and Sustainability (NEWS) branch leads the protection and management of Brisbane's natural environment, including open spaces, waterways and parklands.
The branch drives sustainability initiatives that enhance liveability, build environmental resilience and support Brisbane's transition to a clean, green and low-carbon city through partnerships, planning and community engagement.The Rolesupport senior officers in delivering Council's low‐carbon commitments and sustainability objectivescontribute to projects and programs that reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissionsresearch, analyse and develop business cases for energy and carbon reduction initiatives.assist in the development of project briefs and recommendations that support corporate policy outcomesmonitor legislation, policy, contracts and electricity market developments and identify opportunities to improve outcomes and reduce costssupport the management and integrity of energy data and Council's Energy Information Management platformprovide whole-of-Council support relating to electricity account management.build and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders, government agencies, community groups and industry partnerspromote innovation,
