Financial Accountant
Fixed-Term Contract (10 Months)
Location: Matraville, NSW
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, hands‐on and detail‐oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 10‐month fixed‐term contract.
Reporting to the Finance Team Leader, this role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, supporting month‐end processes, and delivering high‐quality financial insights to the business.
This position offers exposure across a broad range of finance activities, including financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations, taxation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and process improvement initiatives.
It is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to develop their commercial and technical accounting skills within a dynamic and fast‐paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and post monthly journals, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, reallocations, and other accounting adjustments.
Assist with month‐end, quarter‐end, and year‐end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare monthly management reports and support financial performance analysis.
Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
Monitor profit and loss accounts and identify variances requiring further review.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Assist in preparing audit schedules and responding to internal and external audit requests.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting efficiency.
Contribute to ESG, sustainability, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Taxation & Compliance
Assist with preparation and lodgement of BAS, PAYG withholding,



payroll tax, FBT, and other statutory obligations.
Support tax calculations, provisions, and compliance reporting.
Maintain documentation supporting tax and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial, governance, and corporate policies.
Accounts Payable
Review, process, and reconcile supplier invoices in accordance with company policies.
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, supplier queries, and payment issues.
Process credit notes and ensure accurate coding of expenses.
Assist with vendor account reconciliations and statement reviews.
Support payment runs and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Review cost allocation and charge‐rate methodologies to ensure accuracy.
Accounts Receivable & Credit Management
Assist with customer onboarding and credit assessment processes.
Support credit limit reviews and ongoing customer account monitoring.
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve outstanding issues.
Perform daily bank reconciliations and cash allocation activities.
Monitor customer balances and assist with collections and account management where required.
Partner with internal stakeholders to improve cash flow performance.
Billing & Revenue Support
Review billing data and validate invoice accuracy prior to issuance.
Process customer billing adjustments, credit notes, and re‐bill requests.
Reconcile billing activity against operational and contractual data.
Work closely with Operations, Commercial,



and Customer Service teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and billing outcomes.
Support revenue assurance activities and identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy and efficiency.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
Analyse direct costs, overhead expenses, and key financial drivers.
Provide meaningful financial insights to support business decisions.
Assist with ad hoc financial modelling, reporting, and business case development.
Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and performance metrics.
Support finance transformation and process automation initiatives.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
3–5 years' experience in a Financial Accountant, or similar finance role.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and data analysis techniques.
Experience using SAP.
Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Well‐developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
Progressing toward or recently completed CPA, CA, or ACCA qualification.
Experience with Power BI, financial reporting tools, or data visualisation platforms.
Exposure to logistics, transport, eCommerce, distribution, or service industries.
Experience supporting audit, tax, or compliance activities.
