Safety Lead - Work Health & SafetyDuration: Initial 10 WeeksRate: $*****/hr + SuperLocation: BlacktownHours: 35/weekOverviewThis role is primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining a working environment, which provides for the health, safety and well-being of all employees of Council together with any other such persons or organisations as defined under the provisions of the Workplace Health and associated Acts.Experience & QualificationsEssentialDiploma qualification in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or a related disciplineSolid experience in WHS, with a robust understanding of WHS system managementDemonstrated ability to work in WHS within a multi-dimensional industryProficient in the Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work in a dynamic team of WHS professionalsKnowledge of WHS legislation and regulationsCurrent Class C driver's licenceBasic understanding of WHS audit processesExperience in a local government environmentExperience in a similar role working for a NSW self-insured employerExperience delivering basic WHS trainingExcellent communication skillsDesirableBasic understanding of WHS audit processesExperience in a local government environmentExperience in a similar role working for a NSW self-insured employerResponsibilities Position-SpecificDevelop, promote, implement, and monitor Council's WHS policies, procedures, and work instructionsDemonstrate active interest and leadership in WHSFacilitate and participate in regular safety audits, and coordinate corrective action processes to ensure appropriate actions are takenIdentify safety training needsEnsure compliance with State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) Self-Insurer Audit Requirements and Safety System requirementsRequirementsPrepare and coordinate safety data statistics, ensuring accurate reporting for CouncilIf this role is identified as a position that coordinates volunteer programs and supervises volunteers while they are on site (excluding work experience placements), you will be required to:Familiarise yourself with Council's Volunteers Policy and StandardsImplement the policy and follow the Managing Volunteers Standard in a consistent and fair mannerUndertake the training required to effectively coordinate volunteersAllocate sufficient time to volunteer coordination
